Register a change of address in Denmark
Register your move with the Danish population register through Borger.dk using MitID. Borger.dk states that the new address must be reported no later than five days after changing residence. Check its current guidance and ask the municipality about your particular situation.
Have the details ready
Prepare MitID, the new address including floor and door, the moving date and details of anyone moving with you, such as children. If you cannot use the digital service, contact your municipality rather than guessing which alternative applies.
Registration does not update every private agreement
Public authorities use the registered address, but check electricity, internet, insurance and subscriptions yourself. Our notification checklist helps you identify the contacts that may need a separate update.
Moving abroad is a different process
International moves have separate rules and tasks. Read the official moving-abroad guide before travelling and use our international moving checklist to organise the practical arrangements.
Official sources and further checks
Rules and requirements can depend on your circumstances. Use the relevant official source rather than treating a general moving guide as individual legal advice.
