Contact your electricity and internet suppliers early. Borger.dk advises reporting departure to the electricity supplier at least ten working days before moving out to avoid paying for the next occupant’s consumption.
Electricity at departure and arrival
Tell the supplier when your responsibility at the old home ends. Arrange supply at the new address from handover; Borger.dk states that arrival must be reported no later than the day you take over the property. Read and photograph meters at both addresses and check heat, water and gas where you hold those contracts.
Internet and television
Check which connections the new address supports and when your provider can deliver. Installation can take time, so enquire as soon as you know the address. If working from home, consider whether temporary mobile data would cover a gap; do not assume the old connection transfers automatically.
Other agreements worth checking
Review alarm services, streaming and TV packages, newspaper subscriptions, online-shop delivery addresses and any parking permit. Keep supplier confirmations and dates with the rest of your moving documents.
