Removal company charges: understand your quotation

This guide explains a company’s quotation once you have it. It is distinct from your whole moving budget. Two identical totals may cover different work, so read the components and charging rules before choosing.

Identify the components

Check crew numbers, expected time, vehicle and travel, protective materials and any dismantling or reassembly. Ask about heavy items, stairs, weekend arrangements and VAT. Do not assume every listed service appears in every offer.

Understand the price basis

A fixed price refers to a defined job and may have conditions for extra work. An hourly offer depends on chargeable time and the agreed rules. Ask about travel, minimum hours and what happens if the job takes longer.

Make the description consistent

Give every company the same furniture list, box estimate, access and special-service requirements. A company cannot assess an omitted piano, unusable lift or extra storage period accurately.

Ask before accepting

Clarify surcharges, insurance and damage reporting, changes and cancellation. Obtain the offer and amendments in writing. Compare completeness and terms, not only the lowest figure.

Frequently asked questions

Is VAT included?

The offer should make that clear. Ask if the treatment is not stated plainly.

Can the accepted price change?

It may under an hourly arrangement or conditions for changed work. Check the written scope and rules.

Must I choose the cheapest company?

No. Choose a proposal that fits the job with clear terms and appropriate arrangements.

Must I accept one of the offers?

No. Requesting quotations through the platform is free and non-binding.
